Josh Kerr has made a bold promise before the men's 1500m at the World Athletics Ultimate Championship in Budapest on September 13, 2026: "I'm not going to lose." The mile world record holder also said he expects "some struggling" from Jakob Ingebrigtsen, who is coming back from Achilles surgery and has finished 4th, 5th, and 4th in his three Diamond League 1500m races this year. World Athletics broke its own rules and gave both men exceptional invitations. That sets up their first race against each other in more than two years, on the same track where Kerr beat Jakob for 2023 world gold by just 0.27 seconds.
