Jakob Ingebrigtsen's road back to the top looked anything but certain.
After breaking the indoor mile world record and his own 1,500m indoor world record, Jakob's outdoor season was derailed by an Achilles tendon injury. He returned at the Tokyo 2025 World Championships, but was eliminated in the 1,500m heats before finishing 10th in the 5,000m final.
Then his Achilles problems returned.
After undergoing surgery on both feet and being forced into a wheelchair during his recovery, Jakob announced that he would return at the 2026 European Outdoor Championships.
And in the men's 5,000m, he did exactly that.
Jakob Ingebrigtsen won the European title. ????
A true rise from the ashes. ????
