Jakob Ingebrigtsen is finally coming back to the Diamond League — but the 1500m he left behind is gone.

After nearly two years away from the Diamond League 1500m, Ingebrigtsen is set to return at Weltklasse Zürich on August 27. But waiting for him are some of the most dangerous names in the event: Olympic champion Cole Hocker, world champion Isaac Nader, teenage sensation Phanuel Koech, and Paris 2024 bronze medalist Yared Nuguse.

Ingebrigtsen has not raced a Diamond League 1500m since winning the 2024 season final in Brussels. He then suffered an Achilles injury, underwent surgery in February, and missed the entire 2026 season until his return at the European Championships.

Now he faces a completely different 1500m landscape.

Hocker has become an Olympic champion. Nader has claimed a world title. Koech is already running times that put him among the fastest young 1500m runners in history. And even Josh Kerr, who won't race in Zürich, has shown just how quickly the event is evolving by breaking the world mile record.

This isn't simply another Diamond League race.
