Jakob Ingebrigtsen finished fourth in the men's 1500m at the 2026 Diamond League Final in Brussels on September 4, clocking 3:30.52 behind winner Cameron Myers (3:30.14), Phanuel Kipkosgei Koech (3:30.18) and Ethan Strand (3:30.50). The Norwegian led for almost the entire race before being swallowed up in the home straight, then walked into the mixed zone and called the field "a bunch of cowards." He accused Olympic champion Cole Hocker of swapping in his own teammate as pacemaker and then refusing to follow the pace. The next day he issued a statement apologizing for the word "losers" but standing firm on the accusation against Hocker.
