The 10th of June 2021, the Norwegian Jakob Ingebrigtsen broke 13 minutes for the first time in the 5'000 m and ran a new European Record with a time of 12:48,45 min, winning the race, defeating the current (as of the day of this video upload, 06.01.2026) 5'000 m World Record holder Joshua Cheptegei.
